Debates regarding Sweden’s NATO membership have begun in the Turkish Parliamentary Committee.
Erdoğan finally supported Sweden’s accession to NATO and started a process in parliament regarding its accession. Turkiye lifted its objections on Sweden in July 2023 and agreed its joining the military alliance. However, later these cases were put under table.
Last week, US President Biden offered F-16 fighter jets to Turkiye in exchange for allowing Sweden to join NATO. Following this, Turkiye has resumed advancing the operations initiated in July.
