A seemingly minor disease that broke out in China in late 2019 quickly took the world by storm.

This disease known as COVID-19. It has seriously threatened the economies and health systems of many countries. Now experts are preparing for an epidemic that could be more dangerous than Covid.

World leaders gathering for the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos this week will discuss concerns about the possibility of a future pandemic, which could cause 20 times more deaths than Covid-19. .

According to the WHO, the disease’s fictitious name is ‘X’, a term being used to plan for a hypothetical international epidemic in the future caused by a pathogen.

WHO has designated disease ‘X’ as a priority disease along with Covid-19, Ebola virus, Zika virus, Crimean Congo hemorrhagic fever, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). .

Scientists still don’t know what type of virus might cause the next pandemic, or in other words, what the ‘X’ disease will be.

Many people believe it could be a coronavirus, such as SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes illness with Covid-19, or a new type of influenza.

In August 2023, researchers at the University of Oxford announced that they were examining how a vaccine developed for Covid-19 could be used for Disease X. They will also examine how other vaccines can be developed to eradicate future threats.

Disease X can be anything. An outbreak of a disease that still exists but is affecting a very small number of people. Or a disease that does not yet exist.

In this regard, international health organizations are thinking very carefully and are trying to determine possible measures to avoid a sudden major collapse in the future.

Now some pharmaceutical companies are also considering to produce different types of vaccines on an emergency basis when needed.
