The Indian Navy responded to a distress call of a drone attack on a US-owned ship in the Red Sea.

On Wednesday, the Houthis of Yemen attacked an American ship with a drone. When the ship’s crew realized the situation, they gave a distress call, on which the Indian Navy immediately arrived to rescue them. However, the drone had successfully hit the ship. There were 22 crew members on board, including 9 from India.

According to sources, the distress call was issued by the MV Genco Picardy late Wednesday, when the ship felt the force of a drone attack 60NM south of Aden, Yemen. The Houthis have claimed responsibility for the attack.

Houthi spokesperson Brigadier Yahya Sari stated that a direct attack was made on MV Genco Picardy.

The captain of the ship said that the fire has been extinguished and the 22 crew members including 9 Indians are safe in addition to the ship.
