UN spokesperson Stephane dujarric said “We have indeed received the letter from the government of sudan announcing the government’s decision to terminate UN integrated transitions assistance mission in sudan. Which is our special political mission in sudan.”
The UNITAMS mission was launched in 2020 to support democratic transition in sudan. It was renewed every year. This year’s mandate will expire on December 3, after which the government of Sudan will not renew it.
