The US Treasury Department has asked the G7 to tighten controls on Russian oil. The department is seeing an increase in shipments of Russian oil.
After the invasion of Ukraine, Russia faced several difficulties on the economic level, one of which was restrictions on oil supplies. In addition, Russia was forced to keep the price of oil extremely low. In 2022, various sanctions were imposed on Russian oil by Europe and the G7. Due to the restrictions European companies were prohibited from providing insurance and other services to cargoes supplying Russian oil at prices above $60 per barrel.
According to the US Treasury Department, now the supply of oil from Russia has increased, which requires actions to keep it under control.
