According to a CIA report, Iran is the largest maritime trade power in the Middle East.

According to CI Economic Analyzes, Iran had 942 ships in 2022. The rest of the Middle East countries have much less ships than this. Iran has surpassed them all to become the largest maritime trade power in the region.

Compared to Iran’s 942 ships, the United Arab Emirates had 636 ships and Saudi Arabia had 413. Both came in second and third positions respectively.

According to the report, Iran had 393 general cargo ships,83 oil tankers, 32 bulk carriers, 31 container ships, and 403 ships of other types in 2022.
