A large number of bullet train trips have been temporarily suspended in eastern and central Japan due to load shedding.

The East Japan Railway Company said in a statement that around 10 a.m. local time, the power supply to bullet trains traveling on the Tohoku, Joitsu and Hokuriku lines was cut off.

Due to load shedding, a breakdown has occurred on the “Hayabusa.13” bullet train traveling between Tokyo-Hokkaido at Omiya, Saitama Prefecture.

A large number of train journeys on this line have been temporarily suspended due to the malfunction.

According to the statement, the passengers trapped in the carriages of the damaged train have been evacuated from the area by walking on the tracks.
