Qatar court commuted the sentences of 8 ex-Indian Navy personnel.
8 Indian people were sentenced to death in Qatar for spying for Israel. After which India started trying to reduce their sentence at diplomatic level. However, Qatar was not showing any flexibility in this regard.
on December 1, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim on the sidelines of the COP 28 conference in Dubai. Within a month of this meeting, the sentence of 8 Indians imprisoned in Qatar was reduced.
