The Israeli army has expressed its regret for the loss of innocent civilians in its airstrike on the al-Maghazi refugee camp in Gaza.

On December 24, Israel bombed the al-Maghazi camp in central Gaza, killing at least 86 people, and dozens of injured people were taken to Al-Aqsa Hospital after the bombing.

An IDF official informed an Israeli state media agency that incorrect weapons were used in the attack. The official said in an interview: “The weapon was not compatible with the nature of the attack. This caused extensive collateral damage which could have been avoided.”

He has said that the incident is being further investigated.
