In Canada, sanitary pads and other products related to the menstrual cycle will now be available in all washrooms.
Menstrual cycle-related products are being provided in women’s washrooms on army bases in Canada, as well as in men’s washrooms, with plans to do so in all federally regulated workplaces across the country.
Canada is taking this step to end gender discrimination. Employment and Social Development Canada says
“Every female-identified, male-identified and all gender toilet rooms will need to have menstrual products. Unrestricted access to menstrual products better protects menstruating employees and makes sure they feel safe to use the toilet room that best reflects their gender.”
This statement made it clear that Canada is doing this to give relief to members of the LGBTQ+ community in their wishes and preferences.
