The EU is considering reopening the World Trade Organization case against the US.
This problem started from the time of former President Donald Trump when he imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imported from Europe. In response, Europe also imposed additional tariffs of billions of dollars on American goods. It soured Europe-US relations and the EU filed a World Trade Organization case against the US. When Biden became president, he ended tariffs on steel and aluminum.
The EU now wants to restart the World Trade Organization case to achieve different objectives. According to experts, the EU wants to establish leverage on the US through this case and wants to avoid immediate re-imposition of teriffs again.
