AIDS is spreading rapidly in Europe despite all precautions.
AIDS is a sexually transmitted disease caused by the HIV virus. This virus is mostly spread due to unprotected sex. There is a lot of awareness about this in Europe and various measures are taken to avoid it.
But despite this, the HIV virus is spreading faster in Europe than in the rest of the world.
WHO Regional Director for Europe Hans Kluge said “Yet, ironically, the WHO European Region has the fastest growing HIV epidemic in the world. 50% of people in the European Region receive a late diagnosis — people come to healthcare too late, and we are not managing to reach them earlier. This trend has not changed for 10 years. In a number of countries in our Region death rates are unacceptably high, in others, HIV transmission has been almost completely stopped.”
