Houthis attacked another ship. The ship belonged to America.

“In victory over the oppression of the Palestinian people, the naval forces of the Yemeni Armed Forces, with the help of God Almighty, carried out a military operation targeting an American ship in the Gulf of Aden, with a number of appropriate naval missiles, and the hit was accurate and direct.” Houthis claimed.

According to the US State Department, “Iranian-backed Houthi militants fired an anti-ship ballistic missile from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and struck the M/V Gibraltar Eagle, a Marshall Islands-flagged, U.S.-owned and operated container ship.”

US CENTCOM clarified that the ship was not seriously damaged and was continuing its journey.

Tensions between Yemen’s Houthis and the US-led coalition are increasing day by day. After the massive US and UK attack on Yemen on January 11, the Houthis said they would not refrain from attacking ships in the Red Sea and “from now on we will attack not only Israeli ships, but also American ones.”

According to The New York Times, 30 percent of the Houthis’ missile launching and other facilities were destroyed in the attack, while 70 percent of their capabilities still remain.

Even after January 11, the US and the UK continued to target various targets, in response to which the Houthis fired a missile at a US destroyer on January 15, which was intercepted by the US Forces.

In this regard, the Central Command had to say that an anti-ship cruise missile was fired from Iranian-backed Houthi militant areas of Yemen towards USS Laboon (DDG 58), which was operating in the Southern Red Sea. The missile was shot down in the vicinity of the coast of Hudaydah by the U.S. fighter aircraft. There was no loss of life and no one was injured in the fall of the missile.

Today at around 2 o’clock local time, an anti-ship ballistic missile was fired from Yemen towards the shipping lane, but it failed to reach its target and fell in Yemen’s territory. No casualties were reported.
