America’s debt is reaching historic highs. By the end of 2023, it has reached 34 trillion dollars. Each US citizen has more than a hundred thousand dollars in debt.
Mike Johnson, Speaker of the US House of Representatives, says: “The national debt is the greatest threat to America’s national security, and the current addiction to reckless spending cannot be sustained.
Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle have a responsibility to reduce spending and finally put America on the path toward fiscal sanity.”
Referring to the US government’s wasteful spending, economist Sun Won-sang said while talking to the Washington Post: “Washington spent money as if it had endless resources. But there will be no more free lunch, and the outlook is pretty bleak,” said economist Son Won-song, interviewed by the publication.
