Qatari courts have sentenced eight Indians, who were arrested on charges of espionage ahead of the FIFA World Cup, to the death penalty.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs expressed regret over the court’s decision, stating that they will engage with Qatari authorities on the verdict.

According to India, the individuals arrested were working in a Qatari company called Al-Dhara and were allegedly conducting espionage for Israel.

According to some unverified information, there was a sabotage plot during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The individuals receiving the sentence are former employees of the Indian Navy.
