The ongoing civil war in Yemen is nearing its end.
“After 9 years, all factions in the Yemeni civil war have reached an agreement to work towards a permanent settlement to end the conflict.” UN
According to Hans Grundberg, special UN rapporteur to Yemen, the warring factions, including the Houthis & the internationally recognized Yemeni government, have agreed on three basic steps towards peace:
- A permanent nationwide ceasefire.
- The improvement of basic living conditions throughout the country.
- An inclusive political process under UN supervision.
Negotiations regarding the political future of Yemen will begin in 2024.
A new multinational coalition formed against Yemen.
