A senior judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Ijaz-ul-Ahasan, who was to become the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court after a few months, has resigned.

The reasons for the resignation of Justice Ejaz are yet to be revealed. According to sources, the judges have serious differences with the current Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, one of whom was Justice Ejaz ul Ahsan. Justice Ejaz has sent his resignation to the President of Pakistan, but no reason has been mentioned in it.

“I have had the honor and privilege of serving as a Judge of the Lahore High Court, the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court, and a Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. However, I no longer wish to continue as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. Therefore, I, Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan, resign as a Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in terms of Article 206(1) of the Constitution with immediate effect.” He stated in his resignation letter to the president.

This is the resignation of the second important judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan within two days. Before this, Justice Mazahir Naqvi submitted his resignation to the President. A case against Justice Naqvi was going on in the Supreme Judicial Council of Pakistan. The SJC, on October 27 last year, issued a show cause notice to Justice Mazahar amid various complaints alleging bench manipulation and financial misconduct by the SC judge. Justice Naqvi appealed to stop the inquiry, but his appeal was rejected. After which he resigned from his position.

Justice Naqvi wrote to the President submitting his resignation: “It was an honor to be appointed and to serve as a Judge first of the Lahore High Court, Lahore, and then as the Supreme Court of Pakistan. In the circumstances which are a matter of public knowledge and to some extent public record, it is no longer possible for me to continue to serve as a judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.”

Justice Naqvi apparently resigned due to a well-known reason, however, no reasons have been revealed regarding the action of Justice Ijaz.

Today, a statement of the Chief Justice of a High Court of Pakistan came out according to which “they are receiving threats”
